Fabriano - Poggio San Romualdo

Poggio San Romualdo is located on the top of the homonymous mountain, few miles from Fabriano. There are few ruins of the original fortified village. Romualdo from Camaldoli lived in this village and founded the Abbey of San Salvatore in Val di Castro ( nearby valley) between 1005 and 1009. The abbey was renovated in 1262 and restored several times over the centuries. It still retains the crypt with small windows. In summer Poggio San Romualdo is an attractive destination for a truly relaxing break.
