Four days discovering history, culture and flavours of the Marche Region. From the music of Rossini to the Renaissance by Raphael, all accompained by piadina, wine and salami
1st Day: Welcome and taste the Marche region!
Arrive at the hotel in a historical village and welcome gift with a bottle of wine in bedroom. Enjoy “apericena”, a tasting with typical salumi, cheese served with good wine and piadina (a special local bread). Overnight.
2nd Day: Pesaro, urban trekking Rossini and lunch at the inn. On the way to San Bartolo hill… panoramic views overlooking the Adriatic sea.
Breakfast at the hotel and, after 30 minutes by car, you will reach Pesaro, historical town and birthplace of the composer Gioacchino Rossini. Walking in the historical centre you will admire: Rossini’s Birth-house, Rossini Theatre, Conservatory, the Cathedral with its ancient Roman mosaics, Piazza del Popolo with the Ducal Palace and the “Pupilla” fountain. Lunch stop in the oldest inn “Osteria” of the town and taste of our local typical food. In the afternoon we suggest you a panoramic tour through the historical villages of Fiorenzuola di Focara and Casteldimezzo on the San Bartolo hill. Back to the hotel and typical dinner with some dishes of local traditional cooking. Overnight.
3rd Day: The amazing Furlo Gorge. Cagli and the famous local “spaghetti alla carbonara”. Urbino, the heart of Renaissance
Breakfast at the hotel and, driving along the ancient Flaminia Road, you will reach Furlo, where the Candigliano river has created over the centuries a picturesque gorge with rocky walls reflecting in the green water. Crossing the ancient Roman tunnel you will arrive at the Abbey of San Vincenzo al Furlo, a small jewel of Romanesque architecture. Proceed to Cagli, an important Roman settlement along the ancient Flaminia Road. Walking in the historic town center you will admire the oval-shaped tower by the architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini, the historic buildings and the characteristic alleys, the Cathedral and the ancient Churches, which offer a unique and pleasant atmosphere. At lunch you will enjoy the delicious “spaghetti alla carbonara”, with the seasonal flavours according to the different period of the year, it could be also the truffle. In the afternoon drive to Urbino, charming town and UNESCO world heritage site, where you will admire the amazing Ducal Palace with the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche, the oratories and the birth house of Raphael. Back to the hotel, overnight.
4th Day: Mondavio and its impressive Fortress
Breakfast at the hotel and visit at the monumental Rocca Roveresca which dominates the panorama of Mondavio. Build by the architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini, it houses a historical re-enactment museum and the old armory. Before leaving the village, don’t forget to visit the historical theater “Apollo”, built in the eighteenth century on an ancient church, with only 80 seats, a small jewel rich in decorations. The rate includes:
· 3 overnight stays with breakfast in a historical hotel in Mondavio, use of the swimming pool and sun beds;
· “apericena” at the hotel with tasting of local cold cuts, cheese and local jams with wine and piadina bread;
· Typical dinner at the hotel (excluding drinks);
· A bottle of wine in the bedroom;
· Lunch in the oldest “osteria” in Pesaro (excluding drinks);
· Lunch with “spaghetti alla carbonara” with seasonal flavours of our land: sausages, mushrooms, truffle according to the season ( excluding drinks);
· Entrance ticket at Mondavio Fortress;
· Maps of Pesaro town and San Bartolo hill Natural Park.
The rate doesn’t include: guide service, transfers and all not mentioned at “the rate includes”. Tourist tax (currently not applied).
